books on marriage, relationships, and more

There are some books below that are more geared toward marriage, but I’ve also included some other books that I feel have helped my marriage in indirect ways. If you want to chat more or share your opinion, feel free to send us an email.

A great book to start with

This book is what started my interest in relational and marital related resources. Given to me as a gift, I have now bought nearly 100 copies to gift to clients, friends, and family because I believe it’s one of the easiest books to read with relatable stories and quick to apply take-a-ways. A book I didn’t think I’d like

When beginning this book, I thought it’d be a waste of time because of how simple the message was. After the first couple of chapters, I realized that I have overcomplicated some areas in my marriage and this book was helping me see how much more simple it is to love my husband and communicate with him how I want to be loved. Also, don’t be fooled by the repetitiveness as unintentional. This allows yourself easier access to this info to apply day to day. Buy it here.

Hear me out…

This is a parenting book, but I found that reading this helped me parent the parts of myself that were causing issues in my relationship with my husband. Plus, it’s helped me be a better parent to my kids and the children in my life. Buy it here.

What’s next on my list

In 1992, Dr. John Gottman conducted a study of couples in which he was able to predict divorce in couples with 93.6% accuracy. With that said, I added this book to my list of books to read. Buy it here.

Not your average personality test

The Enneagram is a system of personality typing that describes patterns in how people interpret the world and manage their emotions. Understand my and my husband’s type has been a huge game changer in how to love each other better. I think of this as the next step from The Five Love Languages. Buy it here.

If you’re up for some tough love…

This book hit me where it hurt when it came to the mindset I have with my marriage and what I felt it was supposed to do. This book gave me a lot to think about when it comes to the struggles (big and small) that come with marriage and transformed the way I invite and lean on God. Buy it here.

Not all red flags are actually red.

This book was recommended as one to share and help dip ones toe into the world of neuordivergency. This book has helped grasp a basic understanding of having a neurodivergent spouse as a neurotypical person. Buy it here.

For when mistakes are made

This book was recommended as one to share and to help those prepare for or heal from painful moments in ones relationship. 20-25% of marriages deal with infidelity, so to be able prepare before it happens, or know what to do when it does, is a good tool to have with this book. Buy it here.
