WHAT IF IT RAINS FOR PHOTOS?
If there’s 50% or above probability for rain in the forecast, we encourage you to reschedule. If you don’t want to reschedule or are hesitant to, here are things to consider:
We generally reschedule when cloud coverage and/or rain is 50% or above because clients are often unhappy with the results.
If we experience a downpour that forces us to end short in the middle of the shoot, the remaining shoot time will be lost.
If the forecast is clear (or mostly clear), and a surprise rain shower appears in the middle of your photoshoot, the remaining time will be rescheduled.
If the weather causes the session to be rescheduled when our team is en route, this will incur an additional travel fee for the rescheduled session.
If you are ok with rain and want to embrace it, we can provide umbrellas for you. However, the photographer will require a space nearby that is indoor or covered (if the session is outdoors) to protect our expensive gear.
If a brief, strong shower appears during the photoshoot, you can opt to wait in cars or under cover for it to pass. Any waiting time during the session cannot be rescheduled and will be lost.
It’s also VERY important to understand realistic expectations with poor weather. Even if it doesn’t rain, but the clouds are dark and dense, there will be a lack of light. This will result in harsh shadows on your faces, which can make you look aged or sickly. The humidity and moisture can also affect hair in a way that we cannot fix in post-production. Last, but not least, worrying about the items mentioned can make the overall sessions stressful and not fun, which you’ll notice in the photos.
Even if you need to reschedule/pay for hair and makeup appointments, it’s a better investment than paying for a whole new photo session.
Rain/poor weather is always tricky, so if you’re still not sure how to handle the situation, connect with your photographer.
